Senior Resident Engineer - Software Controls

Job Description Summary

AAM is searching for a Senior Resident Engineer - Software Controls to join our team. This position will be based out of our Advanced Technical Development Center, located in Detroit, MI. This role will act as the primary technical liaison between AAM and its automotive customers, ensuring seamless product integration, issue resolution, and engineering support throughout the development lifecycle.

Job Description

• Serve as the on-site technical representative, providing direct support to automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

• Assist in the integration, validation, and troubleshooting of electromechanical components within vehicle systems.

• Work closely with customer engineering teams, providing technical guidance on design, specifications, and performance requirements.

• Facilitate communication between internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure customer needs are met.

• Support prototype builds, validation testing, and field issue resolution, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.

• Monitor and report on customer requirements, design changes, and project milestones, driving continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience with automotive engineering standards, validation processes, and manufacturing practices.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting.
