Job Description Summary

#TeamAAM is looking for a Materials Manager to join our team in Three Rivers, Michigan!

As a Plant Materials Manager, you will: Manage and oversee Supply Chain Management (SCM) programs and systems to ensure the efficient movement of all direct and indirect inventory. Ensure the most cost effective, efficient, and safe method of transportation for products and services. Manage and oversee planning, scheduling, transportation, data integrity, trade compliance, and material handling for the Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility. Develop and implement plans to meet or exceed key SCM objectives such as customer delivery, inventory management, and inventory accuracy. Develop and maintain local SCM policies and procedures, along with participating in continuous improvement activities. Manage Advance Materials new project implementations from business case to execution.

The Materials Manager will work daily with Operations Management, Project Management, and Logistics to assure company targets are met as efficiently as possible. The candidate should be meticulous and accurate, have a strong work ethic, and a quality mindset.

Job Description

  • Lead material handling team by training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining associates; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Achieve materials management operational objectives preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining materials management system improvements; implementing change.
  • Meet materials management financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Meet forecasts and current orders by overseeing production planning and scheduling systems; optimizing labor, equipment, and inventory resources; examining and resolving schedule deviations and problems.
  • Manage inventory by determining and maintaining optimum inventory and cost levels based on PFEP inventory recommendations.
  • Store and ship product by enforcing warehousing policies and procedures; implementing inventory movement systems; maintaining transportation and shipping procedures; examining and resolving delays.
  • Maintain safe and secure work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Provide management control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Oversee API, customs, data integrity, cycle counting, and material handling floor activities.
  • Build a relationship with our trading partners.
  • Develop storage plans and maintain supermarkets based on customer pulls and PFEP needs; work with IE to maintain active storage planning to move material efficiently.
  • Develop and implement tugger routes to support operations teams enforcing safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Collaborate with HR to improve absenteeism trend for hourly workforce.
  • Develop internal processes to receive new projects into the facility and comply with material systems policies; checklist and meet business case from materials cost efficiency.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant Business or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Leadership experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
