#TeamAAM is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our Metal Forming team in Detroit, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role.The Controls Engineer leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of machinery and automation for use in manufacturing. Applications are sophisticated, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.

Job Description
- Designs electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation.
- Works with equipment suppliers and ensures compliance with AAM equipment specifications.
- Works with equipment design team and provides recommendations on equipment design and integration.
- Works with contractors and is responsible for the electrical installation portion of equipment.
- Supports plant maintenance and controls teams.
- Collaborates with and mentors less experienced team members and students.
- Understands safety in manufacturing environments and how it applies to controls design.
- Understands and ensures alignment with NFPA & OSHA regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field, Trade School, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a controls engineering position.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Control Logix, Servo Controllers, HMI products and software.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fluid power systems, and robot integration and programming.
- Advanced technical troubleshooting skills.
