Director IT Strategy & Governance

Job Description Summary

The Director, IT Strategy & Governance is responsible for ensuring AAM’s technology investments and initiatives are aligned with AAM’s technical vision and the organization’s mission and strategy. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and support the Information Technology team to proactively and holistically guide the enterprise through transformation and optimization initiatives; understanding & applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models.

Job Description

  • Works with the CIO to establish a technological vision and direction for the entire enterprise.
  • Collaborates with the CIO and business leaders, providing detailed insights into IT domains and capabilities to support company-wide business decisions.
  • Focuses and prioritizes within the IT organization by setting up strategic planning and governance principles and processes.
  • Leads the implementation of significant, enterprise-wide strategic programs or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Stays updated on new market trends and technological innovations as well as leadership in enterprise IT.
  • Develops and executes continuous improvement initiatives within the IT organization.
  • Oversees the development and management of IT workforce strategy, including sourcing, training, and staff development.
  • Promotes and ensures effective collaboration and communication between the IT department and user and customer groups.
  • Supports the strategic assessment of IT-related opportunities and risks; formulating actionable plans to address identified risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Ensures plans are clearly communicated in a non-technical manner to stakeholders.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 15+ years progressive information technology experience with strong technical background across enterprise application, infrastructure, security and cloud domains.
  • 10+ years management and strategy definition/execution experience.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Proven success in creating and executing technology plans aligned with business goals.
  • Brings innovative ideas aligned with business objectives, exercises exceptional judgment in pursuing innovations, and anticipates their impacts.
  • Strategic partner that collaborates effectively with IT and business teams.
  • Skilled in talent development and team building, excellent communicator, and influences partners and stakeholders indirectly.
