Senior Manufacturing Engineer - ForgingJob Description Summary
#TeamAAM is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metal Forming team in Detroit Michigan. This is a hybrid position.The Senior ME designs and/or implements manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling, automation and machinery to maximize throughput and eliminate waste. They will establish controls of critical features and processes; monitor results and determine machine and process capabilities. They will also manage the implementation of new processes, selection of equipment to be purchased, and project timelines. They will identify optimal tooling for forging and resolve issues with design, manufacturability, or forging sequences. This person will ensure production part acceptance and manufacturing readiness. They will participate in discovery and adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and has the ability to interact and build relationships effectively across all levels of the organization.

Job Description
- Identifies issues and potential improvements to processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Follows engineering systems, process control, and change management practices.
- Works closely with various plant manufacturing engineers, operators, tool rooms, quality, and maintenance departments to troubleshoot and improve OEE and quality performance on a variety of forging operations.
- Assists plants in providing references and resources for training engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel.
- Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, control plans, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
- Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying suppliers, evaluating equipment capabilities, service history, and supplier support.
- Completes new part and process cost projections by analyzing equipment, tooling, materials, process flow, running rates, control plans, investment, return, and savings.
- Oversees forge tool and automation designs, process development, quality assurance, and launch of new products.
- Meets production requirements by designing equipment and tooling modifications as needed.
- Protects organization value by keeping information accurate and confidential as appropriate.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of direct, relevant manufacturing / engineering experience in a plant environment, preferably in a forging operation.
- Strong CAD skills, preferably NX.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
