The Prototype Technician will build prototype assemblies and subassemblies to engineering requirements with measurable 100% First Time Quality.

Job Description

• Interprets and understands complex technical documentation, such as blueprints and specifications.
• Performs and certifies inspections and tests in accordance with technical documentation.
• Records builds, data, and maintains inspection documentation (written, electronic and photographic).
• Utilizes computerized equipment (welder, press, robotic, torque, etc.) and a variety of hand tools to complete assembly and inspection operations.
• Navigates industrial material movement equipment in a safe manner.
• Participates in program technical reviews with engineering, suppliers and customers.
• Works effectively with management, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
• Identifies and performs root cause analysis on build issues and offer recommendations for resolution.
• Successfully completes assigned builds and tasks on time to aggressive schedules.
• Lifts and manipulates objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Complies with all AAM safety policies and procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

• Associate Technical degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or prototype manufacturing operations.
• Strong creativity in solving engineering issues and leading vehicle development.
• Knowledge of automotive electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience with electrical systems.
