#TeamAAM is looking for a Quality Manager to join our Metal Forming team in Fraser, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role.The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality assurance function to assure all quality systems meet requirements of IATF 16949. They are also responsible for developing a trained technical staff and managing the Quality Assurance Program from incoming materials through finished goods inventory. This individual will maintain systems that control non-conforming material, and also manage quality documentation and audit schedules per the IATF 16949 Quality System. Furthermore, they will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the cost of poor quality program and reporting all quality indicators to the senior management team.
The ideal candidate has experience leading a team, and has a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; including, but not limited to, all levels of management, associates, contractors and/or customers. They should also have strong analytical ability to troubleshoot where problems are complex, with a problem solving and collaborative attitude.
Preferred Requirements are experience working in a union environment, operating knowledge of Plexus system; prior Lean Kaizen manufacturing experience, material science or metallurgical experience, and certification in one or more of the following: Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt, and/or Shainin.

Job Description
- Leads the Quality Assurance function and provides guidance to Quality Assurance personnel.
- Ensures full representation of quality requirements and policy in daily plant operational decisions and activities.
- Directs and monitors the Quality Assurance Program, from incoming materials through finished goods inventory including adjustments. This includes ownership of many plant SOPs and work instructions.
- Establishes training concerning quality techniques.
- Sets objectives and drives improvements of the quality operating system.
- Ensures that customer complaints are corrected in a timely manner and that open corrective action assignments are viewed weekly in an 8D review.
- Trains and develops team members to improve quality of work.
- Manages the system of internal indicators which will be reported to the customers and management.
- Maintains the equipment, facilities, and staff with which to perform Quality Assurance functions; including but not limited to, laboratory and testing control, equipment calibration, operation training and evaluation, methods of quality assurance, records retention and information integrity.
- Maintains product and process measurements to provide the necessary information to manufacturing process control according to control plan requirements, quality standards, product or process specification, documentation via quality instructions, training, evaluation, etc.
- Utilizes the Quality Assurance work force, facilities, and equipment to meet organization’s goals and objectives.
- Promotes continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Ensures that the following items are being addressed regularly within the organization: layered audit compliance, open problem action assignments (internal audit NC, external audit NC, layered audit NC, customer rejection, internal problem report, etc.), weekly scrap report, weekly sorting fallout and parts review, cost of poor quality data, SPC compliance, and record of inspection status.
- Manages the plant gauge and layout system to ensure an effective MSA system.
- Supports engineering in correctly submitting customer PPAPs and supporting documentation (control plan, FMEA, process flow, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant science or engineering.
- 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or materials environment.
- 5-7+ years of experience in a quality assurance and/or engineering capacity.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC machining/forging/manufacturing processes, daily operations, material handling, quality criteria, safety, and human resource issues.
- Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control Plans, APQP and PPAP.
- Expert knowledge and implementation compliance of IATF 16949 requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Supplier Quality Program.
