Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for the gaging of parts, maintenance and troubleshooting of our gaging equipment. This position will facilitate the standardization of processes; and the development of new processes and technologies used in the verification and production of the systems.

REPORTS TO

Directly to the Machine Line Quality Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For overseeing all gaging on crew
  • Support to develop gaging maintenance instructions and maintenance plan
  • Support to develop gaging instructions usage and visual aids
  • Performs maintenance on Gages as required to Standards and specifications (daily, weekly, monthly,)
  • These positions will work with Gaging suppliers as required to maintain our high level of quality necessary and during gaging acceptance process
  • Responsible Assists in the validation of gages for new processes
  • Assist on development of new requirements and development for new gages
  • Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed manufacturing and gaging processes
  • Assists Quality Engineering in the transfer of product to and from our manufacturing facilities
  • Supervision of data gather and frequencies according control Plan
  • Capability studies of data gather from gages
  • Gage repairers (such as transducers and critical parts of the gages)
  • Perform R&R, lineability, and bias studies
  • Maintain correctly stored gaging measure certifications, gaging prints, Gaging calibrations
  • Participate on development of APQP, Control Plan, FMEAs and inspection instructions
  • Incoming inspection Control of components (forging, bolts and bushing)
  • Other duties as required

Required Skills and Education

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION

  • Associate Degree in Applied Science in Automated Manufacturing, Tool Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in the same preferred) or equivalent work experience in the Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering function

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working with gaging equipment
  • Tool/Gage design
  • Must have good technical, mechanical, and controls aptitude
  • CNC machining experience beneficial
  • Understands  GD&T
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
  • SPC Understanding
  • CMM (desired Calypso knowledge)
  • Gage measure usage and understanding
  • Understanding R&R (attributes and variables), lineability and Bias understanding
  • Knowledge of Gage Calibration and measurement traceability
  • Knowledge of Gage design will be beneficial
