Warranty Co-op

Job Description Summary

We are searching for a Warranty Co-op to contribute to our Warranty group within our Quality team.

The Warranty Co-op will gain a broad understanding of AAM's products through the process of testing and tearing down components to identify root cause of customer complaints. This co-op will present their findings to various departments to help identify common issue points and contribute to the overall improvement of AAM's products. Additionally, the warranty co-op will assist with tracking customer warranty data, shipping parts for analysis, and generally providing warranty service to AAM customers.

Job Description

• Learn about AAM products (axles, prop shafts, PTUs, transfer cases, RDMs, etc.) from the aspect of what went wrong.

• Investigate why parts had issues in the field or did not meet the customer’s satisfaction.

• Pull customer warranty data to track parts returned to the dealerships by cost, labor codes and cases.

• Interface with cross-functional teams throughout AAM both Corporate and Plant (Product Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Gear Lab Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.).

• Test and tear down the warranty returned parts to determine root cause of customer complaint.

• Install warranty returned parts into vehicles to evaluate customer complaints.

Required Skills and Education

• Pursuing undergraduate degree fulltime at an accredited university.

• Major preferred: Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum of 3.0 GPA.

• Job hours: Minimum 25 hours per week.

• Must be interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry.

• Technical / Industrial knowledge and/or experience preferred.

• High level of analytical ability.

• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-point preferred

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
