Cost Estimating Analyst

Job Description Summary

The Cost Estimating Analyst will serve as a liaison between Procurement, Finance, and identified Program Teams to analyze procurement financial data and performance, prepare reports and projections based on this analysis, and help prioritize cost initiatives with the goal of improving the value of cross-functional teams.

Job Description

• Working collaboratively with Finance, Category Management, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Cost, Quality and others as needed to drive efficiency in Procurement’s forecasting process.  

• Responsible to prepare, submit and present the annual budget to Procurement leadership and Finance.  

• Analyze current and past financial data and performance.  

•  Coordinating with members of the procurement team to create and provide monthly forecasts to finance.

• Present various analysis cross functionally and to Procurement leadership. 

• Evaluate cost saving opportunities. 

• Help prioritize where to focus category management efforts based on the various program requirements and activities.

•  Gather requirements in support of category management, help facilitate the process and act as an escalation point to both Procurement and the Project Teams, where needed.

• Provide reports at the program and product levels for validation of and insight into Procurement's performance to target across the programs.  

• Coordinate with the Buyer(s) and cost estimating team to input Supplier cost into AAM’s Cost Request System, where needed.  

• As requested, complete financial analysis for supplier selection process to support component sourcing process.  

• All other duties as assigned.  

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related.
• Prior co-op or internship experience preferred
• 1 year of experience using Microsoft Excel using VLOOKUP and pivot tables
