AAM is searching for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our Fraser location in Fraser, MI.As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are complex, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.
Job Description
Design and recommend the control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes; identify and resolve system integration and interface issues.
Evaluate new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.
Confirm control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
Prepare and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
Ensure integrity of process and build data collection.
Keep equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
Maintain project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.
Works on multiple, complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field from accredited college/university or Trade School
5+ years experience in PLC/HMI/Vision systems.
