The Senior Controls Engineer leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of machinery and automation for use in manufacturing. Applications are sophisticated, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.
Job Description
- Design electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation.
- Thorough understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment and how it applies to controls design.
- Work with equipment suppliers and ensure compliance with AAM equipment specifications.
- Knowledgeable in mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of fluid power systems.
- Understanding of robot integration and programming.
- Ability to work with equipment design team and provide recommendations on equipment design and integration.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Work on multiple, projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
- Ability to work with contractors and oversee the electrical installation portion of equipment.
- Work effectively on a team and in individual situations.
- Support plant maintenance and controls teams.
- Capable of working with and training entry level controls engineers and students.
- Work experience in Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, Servo Controllers, HMI products and software.
- Understanding of NFPA & OSHA regulations.
Required Skills and Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field from accredited college/university or Trade School
- 7+ years’ experience in controls engineering position.
