Job Description Summary

As a Controls Co-Op at American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. (“AAM”) Fraser, you will be allowed the opportunity to work along side our skilled professionals to assist in the operations of our organization. This role has the potential to expose you to multiple areas of our organization including customer quality assurance, supplier quality and quality lab duties. You will be assigned tasks and projects based on your current skills, targeted development opportunities in line with current business and projected needs.

Job Description


•    Implements and optimizes manufacturing techniques, processes, and tooling to maximize efficiency and reduce cost.
•    Works with engineers to design, develop, test, or manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products, or other equipment.
•    Conduct failure analyses, document results, and recommend corrective actions 
•    Assist in developing manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments, evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements
•    Develops, maintains and ensures compliance with process control plans, quality assurance plans, and procedures
•    Assists in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency
•    Test machines, components, materials, or products to determine characteristics such as performance, strength, or response to stress 
•    Assists in providing a working capacity plan developed by machining engineer and manufacturing manager

•    Timely communication of project status and relevant issues
•    Other task and projects as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree fulltime in an Engineering related field
  • Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week year-round
  • Graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Minumum 3.0 GPA.
  • Must be able to work in the US without Visa Sponsorship.
