Owns the organization's accounting activities, including record keeping and reporting. Maintaining records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Creating reports on financial performance for internal and external use. Completing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management, and tax, including preparing the audit work papers for activities. Supporting and assisting accounting staff in the development of their professional skills.Job Description
- Analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights to improve decision-making.
- Developing and implementing financial plans, budgets, forecasting, and cost models.
- Comparing actual costs to budgeted costs to identify discrepancies and investigate the reasons behind them.
- Examining and interpreting accounting records to understand expenses and their impact on profitability.
- Working with cross-functional teams to gather information, understand the impact of variances, and implement corrective actions.
- Identifying areas where costs can be reduced/eliminated and implementing measures to achieve those goals.
- Gather and analyze data on employee productivity, costs, and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Identifying and analyzing cost structures, including direct and indirect costs, to identify areas for improvement.
- Entering financial data into databases and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, ensuring they are accurate and supported by documentation.
- Ensure accuracy by reconciling required accounts with the general ledger.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all financial transactions and documentation.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies.
- Create and maintain accurate capital budgets for projects and initiatives, ensuring they align with strategic goals and financial constraints.
- Evaluate proposed capital projects, including assessing feasibility, financial viability, and potential risks.
- Create and manage detailed project budgets, forecast costs, and track actual expenditures.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and dispositions, including useful life, depreciation methods, and cost basis.
- Providing guidance, direction, and support to team members.
- Facilitating collaboration and teamwork among different departments or individuals.
- Ability to guide the team, assign tasks/responsibilities and resolve conflicts within the team.
- Monitoring progress, identifying potential issues, and taking corrective action.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance plus 7 years professional experience; or Advanced Degree plus 5 years professional experience.
- Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for identifying and interpreting variances.
- Able to identify patterns, trends, and variances in financial data, and to draw meaningful conclusions and make informed recommendations.
- A solid understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in using data analysis software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP, BI, etc.).
- Communication, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and continuous learning.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide the team.
- Effectively assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members.
- Ability to address and resolve conflicts within the team.
