Job Description Summary

#TeamAAM is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to join our Driveline team in Three Rivers, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role.

This individual is responsible for creating procedures and work instructions to effectively manage and control both the receiving and shipping areas in a standardized manner across all three shifts by the material handling operations team. This ensures the delivery of high-quality service at our Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility. This person will oversee the procedures and communication between teams, ensuring smooth coordination, and addressing any operational challenges related to the receiving, picking, shipping, and return processes. Additionally, this person will drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize resources and enhance efficiency across all material handling operations.

The ideal candidate is proficient in inventory management, Excel, Microsoft Office, MRP systems, and basic problem-solving techniques.

Job Description

  • Manages the interaction with material schedulers, customers, and transportation departments to understand material demand, arrival frequencies, and shipment schedules. 
  • Manages a portion of the PFEP (Plan for Every Part) for both inbound and outbound materials.
  • Designs and optimizes material flow processes for inbound and outbound operations, including receiving docks, storage areas, picking zones, and shipping docks.
  • Conducts a VSM (Value Stream Mapping) of the full process, identifying all bottlenecks within receiving and shipping.
  • Analyzes required space based on organizational inventory demands and policies.
  • Analyzes time and motion to determine staffing HC requirements for operations based on demand.
  • Creates flow diagrams for both receiving and shipping processes.
  • Performs root cause analysis and problem-solving for underperforming indicators or areas of opportunity within the process.
  • Generates performance reports based on procedures.
  • Implements system tools to strengthen procedures, reflecting operational realities on the floor.
  • Establishes poka-yokes within operations to prevent errors.
  • Optimizes current procedures through proposals and benchmarking.
  • Analyzes root causes of safety-related issues in both areas.
  • Collaborates on projects related to Advanced Materials, including route implementation, warehouse relocation, workload calculations, etc. (As applicable).
  • Manages reverse logistics including the return of empty containers to suppliers and from customers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 2–4+ years of relevant professional experience in manufacturing processes, particularly in an automotive environment, with hands-on involvement in new project execution and supporting business cases.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles to support and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Practical experience with automotive manufacturing processes and the ability to assist in the implementation of new technologies and systems.
