Job Description
•Evaluates control systems, products, components, and applications.
•Evaluates new manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.
•Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
•Prepares and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
•Ensures integrity of process and build data collection.
•Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
•Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
•Maintains project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.
•Manages supplier development and delivery.
•All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- Experience in electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation.
- 2+ years’ experience in controls engineering position
- Able to assist maintenance team in troubleshooting machine breakdowns.
- Basic understanding of automation and robots.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC’s, electrical circuits, and Fanuc Robots.
- Understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment and how it applies to controls design.
- Work with equipment suppliers and ensure compliance with AAM equipment specifications.
- Basic understanding of fluid power systems.
- Experience with vision systems.
- Ability to work with contractors.
- Work effectively on a team and in individual situations.
- Quick Learner.
- Experience in Allen Bradley PLC’s, Servo Controllers, HMI products, and software.
- Basic experience with CNC troubleshooting.
- Understanding of NFPA & OSHA regulations.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field from accredited college/university or Trade School or equivalent work experience.
