Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At AAM, we believe diversity drives creativity. We believe an equitable and inclusive culture encourages, supports and celebrates the unique voices of our global workforce.

AAM is committed to listening, learning and taking action that will move our company and our communities forward, together.
Our DEI statement embodies the importance of diversity in our workforce. Our entire organization is committed to developing and executing goals and policies as well as providing training and development of our Associates, who strengthen and promote the diversity of our organization. To that end, we have established a DEI Steering Committee, a cross-functional and diverse group of Associates, to provide guidance and direction in support of our diversity statement. We are also proud of our resource group for AAM women, POWhER, which quickly adapted to a virtual format for much of 2020 and into 2021. These virtual networking events and meetings enable women at AAM to continue connecting until in-person events and meetings can begin again.

With nearly 20,000 associates working at approximately 80 facilities in 17 countries, we are a diverse group. Our Cultural Values – integrity, teamwork, responsibility, excellence, lean and empowerment – guide our diverse global workforce and define how we interact with each other, our communities and the environment. We value diversity, equity and inclusion because it makes AAM a better company.

AAM is committed to empowering the next generation of diverse talent through a variety of mentorship and sponsorship programs. Through Grow Young Detroit Talent, we’ve hosted hands-on workshops for guest students at our Advanced Technology Development Center and manufacturing facilities throughout metro Detroit. Every October for Manufacturing Day, AAM invites local students for an in-depth tour of our facilities and Q&A with our teams to learn what it’s like to have a career in manufacturing. AAM is also a sponsor of the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge, a four-year competition that challenges university teams to design and build next-generation mobility solutions.
AAM will not discriminate against any Associate or applicant for employment because of age, race, color, gender, religion, weight, height, marital status, sexual orientation, genetic history or information, gender identity or expression, disability, protected veteran status, national origin, or other characteristic protected by law. AAM will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that Associates are treated equally during employment, without regard to their age, race, color, gender, religion, weight, height, marital status, sexual orientation, genetic history or information, gender identity or expression, disability, protected veteran status, national origin, or other characteristic protected by law.
