Job Description Summary

AAM is seeking candidates that are passionate about automotive engineering & design, excel academically, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Description

  • Assist the Controls Engineer in the development of controls designs and hardware for new and refurbished manufacturing equipment, automation, and their integration.
  • Assist the Controls Engineer in the development and application of vision technology for inspection and bin picking.
  • Learn and apply standards that define the minimum controls requirements of Metal Forming equipment.
  • Learn and apply national electrical safety standards for new, refurbished and existing Metal Forming equipment.
  • Identify and implement advanced machine control, sensor, vision, and robotic technologies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university full-time. Electrical Engineering,   Industrial Engineering,  Robotic System Engineering, or Mechatronics Systems degree program, with emphasis on hands-on lab work preferred.
  • Exposure to safety requirements involving electrical systems.
  • Exposure to robot programming and debug.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD (2013 or newer) preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
