Job Description Summary

The Dauch Corporation Environmental Manager will coordinate and facilitate the development of business processes and systems to identify, reduce or eliminate environmental risks. The Environmental Manager provides technical and legal support, business process development, and coordination of strategic and tactical planning with Dauch Corporation leadership to meet regulatory and customer requirements. The Environmental Manager will assist the Dauch Corporation Global EHS Director and global leadership team with setting long-term direction for global environmental and sustainability programs and systems.

Job Description:

  • Lead responsibility for managing key environmental programs, including the collection and analysis of critical data elements, coordination of global requirements, monitoring of trends, and identification and resolution of gaps.

  • Interface with both Corporate leadership and plant/facility leads to ensure related policies, processes, data, etc., are communicated and tracked in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Provide required data, program updates, issue analysis, guidance and strategy support to the Corporate Sustainability Team (CST) to be compliant with ESG reporting/disclosures (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis, CSRD, etc.)

  • Manage and track AAM’s water and waste programs and maintain internal reporting requirements.

  • Manage global Dauch Corporation E4 Advisory Council program, including E4 Operating System updates, analysis and assessments.

  • Monitor regional specific proposed changes to environmental regulations, assess and communicate potential impact, and coordinate intervention programs as related regulatory changes affect AAM’s manufacturing footprint.

  • Oversee and track Dauch Corporation Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) specific to environmental and energy projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by EHS Global Director or Senior Leadership.

  • Audit the effectiveness of the Dauch Corporation Environmental Management System and communicate issues to management and EHS leadership.

  • Develop and update environmental programs and coach EHS plant leaders and local management teams on any implementation requirements.

  • Coordinate with Dauch Corporation Procurement team to identify opportunities for cost savings related to environmental matters.

  • Assist Dauch Corporation leadership and Global EHS team in the development of training programs as appropriate.

  • Assist plants in performing required measurements for meeting environmental regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, Safety or Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Management or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience within a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Proven ability to consistently improve EHS outcomes. 
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 systems.
  • Experience with and ability to influence senior leaders and staff. Often uses influence to convince both internal/external parties that share a common desire to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches and frequently negotiates with a common desire to reach agreement on complete proposals/programs.
  • Ability to solve problems that may be vaguely defined and require understanding and consideration of other job areas.
  • Proven project management experience
