#TeamAAM is looking for a Lead Industrial Engineer to join our Driveline team in Detroit, Michigan. This is a 1st shift, hybrid role reporting to the Senior IE Manager.The Lead Industrial Engineer leads program launch industrial engineering activities; performs labor estimate studies for cost requests, completes launch readiness documentation, and drives programs to completion on time and within budget. They also coordinate global completion of hourly labor budget development. This person will manage global productivity initiative program, providing guidance to regional leads. They will also provide plant support to document downtime causes, increase throughput, and identify productivity improvement opportunities. The Lead IE will prepare reports for management based on critical metrics as required.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong people management skills, giving them the ability to influence without formal authority. This person should also be able to identify problems and implement solutions with minimal guidance. Experience within a plant manufacturing environment is preferred.

Job Description
- Monitors performance to standards, budgets, and departmental goals/operational objectives.
- Responsible for productivity initiative database management, as well as monthly status review preparation for senior management.
- Identifies process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials, and energy.
- Conducts time and motion studies.
- Conceptualizes improvements and assists in developing business cases.
- Develops and evaluates pilot programs, simulations, and prototypes.
- Implements new and enhanced processes and tools.
- Designs the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
- Develops process capacity requirements based on established business standards
- Supports floor IE activities at AAM facilities and/or suppliers as required. Activities include, but are not limited to, time and delay studies, line balancing, standardized work, job instructions, and capacity studies.
- Prepares, analyzes, and selects methods of presenting important statistical data, such as charts, diagrams, and graphs.
- Assists in the development of annual budget activities and tracks monthly performance.
- Involved in advanced process design to ensure proper manning levels, ergonomics, and work balance concepts are incorporated into the design of the process.
- Responsible for plant layouts to include utilization of AutoCAD.
- Assists manufacturing in plant material flow design and incorporation of lean concepts into process layouts.
- Adheres to established company standards and systems.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced degree.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Availability and willingness to adopt flexible work hours in order to support the launch of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to travel internationally and support launch activities as required to meet the demands of the program.
Skills:
- Advanced computer skills to include the organization of data through contemporary database platforms (Microsoft Excel).
- Experience and skills in the use of AutoCAD.
- Ability to use computer systems for communication and preparation of reports.
- Training and knowledge of ergonomics.
- Math skills required in developing capacity, headcount, and cycle times models.
- Knowledge of budget/finance systems as it related to industrial work design and documentation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and systems to include automation and robotics.
