• Drive the end-to-end product development process, from concept and validation to production release and launch support.
• Ensure technical integrity through design analysis, testing coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Contribute to product reliability and continuous improvement by evaluating field data and integrating lessons learned.

Job Description

  • Gathers and interprets customer requirements by reviewing provided specifications and performance expectations; ensures all functional criteria are accurately reflected in the product design documentation.
  • Defines core product features and characteristics; creates structured bills of materials (BOMs) for approved designs.
  • Validates product designs by conducting tolerance analyses, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design for Assembly/Manufacturing studies, and Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) evaluations.
  • Plans and coordinates product testing and validation activities; ensures prototypes meet technical standards and are approved for further development.
  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders throughout the product development cycle.
  • Analyzes returned components from the field; identifies failure patterns and contributes to corrective actions and design improvements.
  • Manages the release of final product designs by completing documentation, obtaining drawing approvals, and coordinating issuance of release notices.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure design feasibility and support smooth product launches.
  • Supports product launch activities by providing engineering input during ramp-up and early production phases.
  • Performs torsional vibration calculations when required; receives training as necessary.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng. Honours) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, combined with 2–5 years of relevant professional experience; alternatively, an advanced degree with up to 3 years of experience
  • Solid working knowledge of CAD and PLM systems; familiarity with design validation methods such as NVH and torsional vibration analysis is a plus
  • Experience with test rig design and instrumentation is desirable; exposure to larger-scale internal combustion engines and/or the marine industry would be beneficial
  • Strong team orientation, proactive mindset, and willingness to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits and project-related activities, both within the UK and further afield
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential for customer interaction and collaboration across teams
