Industrial Engineering Summer Intern

Job Description Summary

The Royal Oak Manufacturing Facility Industrial Engineering Summer Intern supports the engineering department in executing core IE functions. Key responsibilities include updating plant layouts, maintaining job instructions, and assisting with lean manufacturing projects aimed at eliminating waste and enhancing productivity. The internship will run from May through August 2026

Job Description:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and machine operators to document job functions and create technical job instructions to improve training and quality.

  • Analyze OEE metrics to identify significant loss areas, contributing to the development of targeted improvement strategies.

  • Executing time studies and cycle time audits to validate production standards and identify opportunities for throughput enhancement.

  • Conduct delay studies to quantify non-value-added time, facilitating lean manufacturing improvements.

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Available to work at least 40 hours per week.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

  • Interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
