Job Description Summary

The Master Data Management Business Team is looking for an energetic, self-starter that will our join our dynamic team and take ownership of data mastery, driving innovative data quality with a proactive approach.

The Lead Data Steward of Master Data Management (MDM) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of American Axles master data. This role involves collaborating with AAM Driveline and Metal Form business units, including their functional groups, IT, and plant data integrity teams. A Lead Data Steward is required to manage master data quality, and support data governance standards, while maintaining the overall health of mastered data across the enterprise.

The MDM Lead Data Steward supports a critical role in American Axles digital transformation. Achieved through their contribution to the AAM data governance initiatives, ensuring that all master data aligns with business needs and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

Data Governance & Quality Data Assurance:

  • Support Master Data Management – Item, Supplier, Customer, and all future mastering elements.
  • Subject matter expert (SME) on Oracle Fusion PDH, Oracle EBS, Teamcenter and Power BI to support Master Data Management.
  • Support definition, documentation, and enforcement of AAM master data management policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor data quality metrics through Power BI and other analytic tools.
  • Evaluate and provide corrective actions to resolve data quality issues.
  • Ensure master data consistency with Oracle Fusion modules supporting AAM Master Data Management.
  • Collaborate with all AAM functional groups as well as international plant teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.

Data Stewardship:

  • Observe best practices for Master Data Management in-line with AAM MDM policies and procedures.
  • Subject matter expert in Oracle Fusion as a business user to support all mastering elements data quality.
  • Business user contact for master data related issues, requests, and inquires related to data stewardship.
  • Verify and enrich inbound integration data related to Item, Supplier and Customer mastering elements.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies, ensuring accurate and timely updates to master data.
  • Work closely with AAM business units, individual plants, IT, and data steward team to ensure master data meets business requirements.
  • Educate and train end-users on master data processes, policies, and tools.
  • Facilitate communication between key AAM system stakeholders to ensure data consistency and resolve data-related issues. (Ex: Teamcenter, Oracle Fusion, Oracle EBS, Plex)

Data Mastering, Continuous Improvement, & Maintenance:

  • Participate in data conversion projects, ensuring that master data is properly evaluated, implemented, and maintained.
  • Assist in the further implementation of MDM elements, solutions, tools, and technologies.
  • Support the migration and conversion of master data during implementations and or upgrades.
  • Support volume testing during (Oracle Fusion) quarterly release cycles.
  • Routinely evaluate Mastered data to ensure data quality.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in master data management process.
  • Implement best practices for master data management and contribute to the continuous improvement of MDM processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in master data management and data governance.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Data management, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Certifications in data governance, MDM, or related fields (ex: CDMP, MDM Institute, etc.) are a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in business management, data governance, data scheduling, or a related role.
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) systems, tools, and technologies (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Oracle EBS, Informatica, SAP, Reltio) a plus.
  • Experience in data stewardship, data quality management, data integration, and business data analytics preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of master data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and master data management best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. (Product Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement)
