Provides direction and leadership to software managers and engineers to build a best-in-class and innovative global software engineering team. The development process and practices must continually improve to increase rigor while evaluating alternative methods for the proper program pace while containing cost. Involvement and review of program planning, technical solutions, and risk mitigation are also expected. Strong people skills are required as interaction with Engineering Directors, Program Management, Business Area Managers, and company leadership is expected.Job Description
•Oversees reviews of product development projects; directs and balances resources where needed to ensure all projects proceed as planned.
•Creates a roadmap for algorithm development to control various mechatronic systems and their effect on vehicle dynamics and controls.
•Delivers technical presentations to various stakeholders and participates in various additional technical reviews throughout the product development cycle.
•Proficient in Simulink, Control theories for device and vehicle and automotive product development lifecycle are must-haves.
• Serve as the AAM global leader for Software & Controls products and processes.
• Provide oversight for a global team of engineers including recruiting and motivating the Software & Controls team, leading the execution of technology development into innovative products, managing the performance of direct reports, and providing mentorship to direct reports.
• Ensure software development, validation, and delivery are according to ISO26262 and ASPICE process guidelines.
• Provides technical leadership in and management of engineering tools, product licenses, etc. including usage, training, and efficient utilization by the team.
• Assure the accuracy, clarity, internal integrity, consistency, and timeliness of all technical information submitted.
• Provide regular updates/reports to senior management.
• Work closely with relevant functional areas to achieve overall product development success (operations/manufacturing and quality, marketing and sales, customer service, project management, global customers, finance, and technical support).
• Work with developers to create a maintainable and extensible product architecture.
• Provide interpretation, guidance, and strategies on technologies and methodologies affecting product approvals, development, and continued product compliance.
• Assessing and evaluating new and existing technologies that are opportunities or threats to AAM.
• Ensure software development is to all AUTOSAR standards.
• Ensure reusability of many software components across multiple platforms.
Required Skills and Education
• BS in Engineering (Electrical, Software, or Computer Science) plus 10+ years or MS plus 7+ years of professional experience of which 3+ years of experience managing a Software team.
• Proficiency with developing and or integrating AUTOSAR-compliant software that adheres to secure coding principles.
• Proficiency with automotive communication, CAN, CANFD, Flex Ray, and Ethernet and Cybersecurity.
• Strong Understanding of Industry Software & tools such as MISRA, IBM DOORS NG, etc.
• 5+ years of experience working with automotive OEM's including projects with Cybersecurity and embedded systems.
• Experience with execution of projects at various functional safety (ISO26262) levels with defined Software development processes including Agile development methodologies and projects assessed at ASPICE levels above 2.
