Job Description Summary

Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business user needs to create Application System solutions that support overall business strategies. Documents system requirements, defines scope and objectives, and creates system specifications that drive system development and implementation. Incumbents function as a liaison between IT and system users and have both business and technical expertise. Effectively participate in ERP Implementations for consistent use of the Plex ERP/MES system at Metal Forming Business Unit (MFBU) level and all MFBU plants as determined for new implementations, functional process optimizations and upgrades. Ensure that the Plex system is capable with all applicable MFBU / AAM business practices maintaining compliance to all Sarbanes Oxley requirements and all company/departmental policies and procedures. Provides timely resolution of issues and support requests within the assigned area of module responsibilities.

Job Description

  • Consult with plant business leads and corporate department managers to develop system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Develop SQL queries and Plex reports as assigned.
  • Work with external partners to design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot, interfaces between Plex and other systems as needed.
  • Participate in PLEX ERP and other System Deployment and upgrade projects within assigned module areas.
  • Support and develop the skills and abilities of all MFBU / AAM associates using Plex, as needed, at each plant, in cooperation with plant management associates.
  • Develop, document, improve, and audit business processes within each assigned Plex module working with plant and MFBU / AAM corporate associates as needed.
  • Use analytical tools and data from Plex system to create process and procedure documentations and reports to support the needs of Production Plant locations within assigned modules.
  • Collaborate with other teams and participate in improving the use of Plex with MFBU plant Teams and AAM shared services team within assigned module and functional areas as applicable.
  • Visit each MFBU plant facilities when scheduled to audit use of Plex system, improve stability metrics, and Plex system goals and objectives.  Report results to MFBU operating committee as required.
  • Coordinate with plant Plex module champions and business champions to ensure stable use of system for customers and suppliers.
  • Coordinate and respond to Plex system User Support Requests (USR's) within area of module responsibility according to SLA requirements including any urgent support requests.  Resolve assigned support requests and USRs within assigned plex module and functional area(s). Provide routine production support through business solutions.
  • Provide training to Plex system users at each plant as required.
  • All other duties as required and assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Supply Chain or Engineering related fields
  • Demonstratable skills in SQL, ODBC, Web Services, and PLEX report writing
  • Knowledge of General Supply Chain and Manufacturing Principles, General Shipping & Receiving principles, General Quality Management System principles 
  • Ability to plan and organize

  • Ability to analyze issues and implement solutions 
  • Ability to implement changes to the business system (Plex)
  • Ability to facilitate team problem solving
  • Ability to set standards and monitor them

  • 25% travel. Must be willing to travel to AAM plant locations and project sites
