Mold Press Operator (3rd Shift)Job Description Summary
Interact with Crew Supervisors, Module Team Leaders, Reactive Maintenance, and Manufacturing Associates to assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials, minor machine adjustments, minor maintenance, supplying consumables, performing set-ups, change-overs and providing training to all area associates. Provide direction for the purpose of assisting employees to safely operate equipment and to make product that meets the Customer’s expectations at levels of quality and productivity that meets or exceed the established plan.Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Team Leader to coordinate and provide directions to manufacturing associates on how to do their assign task(s). This includes hands on training
- Ensure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shift
- Assist Team Leader in achieving daily quality, production, scrap goals
- Assist the Team Leader in assigning and rotating Manufacturing Associates to the appropriate operation and provide relief to employees as required
- Ensure that the manufacturing associates are following the appropriate conduct codes per AAM plant Associate Handbook
- Frequently review the Quality of products following each process and provide feedback to Manufacturing Specialists to keep everyone in tune with the process
- Assist Team Leader with reducing scrap, improving quality, and machine efficiencies
- Verify that documented procedures and instructions are being followed:
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Rework Instructions
- Work Instructions
- Preventive Maintenance Instructions
- Inspection Instructions
- Reaction Plans
- Process Set-up Instructions
- Associate Handbook
- Police Housekeeping
- Police End of Shift Clean-up
- Facilitate communications between operations within the assigned Module, between Crews, and between Modules
- Perform changeovers/setups, minor adjustments and maintenance at required operations per the Crew Managers and Team Leaders direction
- Prepare tools or tooling if applicable
- Assist Module Team Leaders with completing Team Leader Report and verify the following for accuracy when required:
- Operation Productivity & Pareto sheets.
- Downtime issues
- Feedback on process and operation.
- Maintain and report status of supplies at the operation line and inventory levels and provide continuous improvement suggestions
- In addition to the above responsibilities, the Utility Specialist/Set-up Technicians are responsible for other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design Engineering or Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent work experience in the Manufacturing function
EXPERIENCE (Depending on your area of responsibility)
- COMPACTING: A working knowledge of 440ton & 550 ton compacting presses are required and three (3) years’ experience in manufacturing compacting operations (5 years’ experience preferred)
- FORGING: A working knowledge of forging process is required and two (2) years’ experience in manufacturing forging operations (5 years’ experience preferred)
- FINISHING: A working knowledge of deflash (both rotary and Fanuc robotics rework), double disk grind, shot peen, whitelight inspection, video & ink jet, magnetic particle inspection and dip tank operation is required and one (1) year experience in manufacturing finishing operations (2 years’ experience preferred)
